Funafric.com has been conceived as an internet based music vending and Entertainment Company. Its core business objective is the provision of a platform for distributing a wide range of music forms and movies, mainly of the African genre, over the Internet, in a digital format. It will also provide entertainment news, information and sales of memorabilia and other such items.
For a fee, clients will be able to access the web-based portal of the company, and download music and movies of their choice. The company will position its self as a low cost, fairly priced, easy access portal, targeted at a critical mass of diverse audience, Africans and non-Africans, who like African music, movies and culture and will like to know what is going on in the African entertainment scene. At its simplest, the business concept is modeled after the likes of Napster, Kazaa and I-Tunes.
The company was incorporated on the 8th of April 2005 as Funafric Limited, and according to its memorandum and articles of association, it is established to carry on a wide range of entertainment business, including but not limited to the following:
- Music vending via television, radio, internet or any other appropriate multimedia apparatus inclusive of digital satellite television and radio
- Entertainment service providers, Artiste Managers, Artiste Promoters and Events Managers
- Advisers, promoters, presenters, organizers, arrangers and providers of every kind of entertainment, using all and every available and appropriate media
The Company / History To Date
Funafric commenced operation on 1st April 2006, with the establishment of its internet based music portal, www.funafric.com Music can be downloaded from this portal for a fee of 99 cents (US) or such fees as may from time to time be offered by the funafric (per download) using internationally accepted credit cards and other payment platform that may be made available on the site. Special Funafric prepaid cards will be available in the near future to facilitate ease of download. The Company has since incorporation registered an English subsidiary; Funafric (UK) Ltd with its registered address at 562a High Road Wembley Middlesex HA0 2AA
The company is presently being managed by a General Manager / Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Aramide Paul-Taiwo. The COO is supported by an advisory board, made up of members of the board of directors with specific individual and collective expertise in core business and operational areas relevant to the business of Funafric, such as Marketing, Intellectual and Property Rights Law, Musicology, Entertainment / Events Management and Information Technology.
